Unique Features Let You Take Dish Network With You

If you're familiar with the services that Dish Network offers, then you probably have a good idea of how it can keep you entertained at home; but you might not know as much about what it can do for you outside of your own home. There are actually several different ways that Dish Network can become more mobile and therefore keep up with you in your travels.

One way to bring Dish Network with you when you travel is to have a receiver installed in the entertainment system in your RV or camper and then get an extra satellite dish and long coaxial cable. This way you can mount the satellite dish on a tripod and then connect it to the entertainment system in your RV whenever you stop for the night in your travels. With this set up, you'll be able to enjoy the same great TV on the road that you enjoy at home! It may also be possible to have a satellite TV system installed on your boat as well.

Dish Network can also come with you when you move. All you have to do is to inform Dish Network that you're moving and have your system installed in your new home. You can keep everything the same; including your programming package, your receiver equipment, and even keep the video that's been recorded on your DVR. The only thing that will change will be any local channels that you subscribe to. This is especially handy for anyone who moves often because it provides a degree of continuity between your old home and your new one.

There's also a lesser known way in which Dish Network can be made more mobile and that's with the purchase of a Pocket Dish. The Pocket Dish is a portable video device that's a lot like others that are on the market these days- it can play audio and video, and be used to display digital photos, and even play games- but with the advantage of being able to use Dish Network DVRs as sources of video! There are some limits on the DVR models that are compatible with Pocket Dishes, but most can be used with the Pocket Dish with ease.

The process of using a Pocket Dish is actually extremely easy. All you have to do is program the DVR to record the video that you want to watch on the Pocket Dish. Once the DVR has recorded the video, you can plug the Pocket Dish into the DVR and then have the software transfer the videos that you want from the DVR's hard drive to the hard drive of the Pocket Dish. The process is extremely fast and once it is complete, you'll be able to watch that video on the screen of the Pocket Dish and listen to the audio over the unit's speakers.

One interesting extra feature that the Pocket Dish has is the ability to record video from devices other than a DVR. In fact, with the ability to record video from TV sets, the Pocket Dish is essentially a DVR in and of itself!

Portable video is definitely useful and Dish Network can provide it for you.

Dish Network Proves Satellite TV is Superior to Cable TV

There still seems to be a lot of debate about whether satellite TV is better than cable TV or is it the other way around. You would think that such a debate would be relatively easy so settle--after all, there should be facts that we can reference in order to take an objective look at the two services. However, there has been so much spin in both directions that it's almost impossible to look at things in an unbiased way! When you think about it, though, just looking at the relative differences between the two services can provide a lot of insight into which one is better.

Dish Network is a good example of a satellite TV company that we can compare against the cable TV industry. Basically, Dish Network has a lot of advantages over the typical cable TV carrier in that it has a lot more bandwidth that it can use to transmit its programming. This difference in the bandwidth has to do with the differences in the underlying technology more than anything else. You see, satellite technology transmits data through air and space using electromagnetic waves while cable technology transmits data over coaxial cables. While there are a lot of technical and theoretical things that describe the differences between these two mediums, it really boils down to the fact that it's possible to transmit a lot more data through air and space than over coaxial cables!

The difference in bandwidth is evident when you look at the number of channels that Dish Network offers and compare it to the number of channels that the typical cable TV company offers. While the typical cable TV company struggles to offer fewer than three hundred digital channels, Dish Network offers roughly one thousand digital TV channels! That's a pretty impressive difference. Plus, it's relatively easy for Dish Network to expand its offering of channels. All it has to do is launch more satellites, while cable TV companies have to undergo labor intensive equipment upgrades that involve digging up hundreds or possibly thousands of miles of cable and replacing it with higher capacity cabling.

Now you might think that launching a satellite is a pretty tall order! While its true that launching a satellite is expensive in the total cost, it becomes fairly cheap when you look at the number of people that a single satellite can serve. For example, when you realize that Dish Network has over ten million customers who can all be better served by launching a single satellite, you can see how economical it can be to launch that satellite. In fact, it's possible to put a satellite in orbit for only a few dollars per subscriber and then have that satellite serve all of Dish Network's subscribers for years to come!

This also brings up another clear advantage that Dish Network has over its cable TV competitors. The fact that Dish Network's programming is available all over the United States means that it can provide TV programming to people who can't be reached by cable. You see, due to the expense of laying and maintaining cable, cable TV just isn't available in that many places. Sure, everyone in cities and suburbs can get cable, but cities and suburbs cover a relatively small portion of the land area of the country. This leaves lots of other people unable to get cable.

After looking at all of these fact, it becomes clear that Dish Network's satellite TV service is superior to any cable TV service. Dish Network is Better!

Dish Network Provides TV For A Variety of Budgets

Just because times are tough right now money-wise, that doesn't mean that you have to forego the TV that you love. That's because there are a lot of alternatives that will allow you to save money while still getting access to the tv
that you enjoy. Dish Network is one resource for getting the TV service that you need in order to keep your spirits up and your family entertained.

In choosing Dish Network, you automatically get more for your money. That's because it has the lowest prices on its subscriptions of any other TV service provider. In fact, by going with satellite TV you're automatically saving money over a cable TV subscription. Satellite TV is simply more economical than cable TV. There are a lot of reasons for this, but they all really boil down to the fact that it costs a lot more to run cables to every single home than it does to broadcast satellite signals that everyone on an entire continent can receive! In fact, satellite TV might be your only choice if you live in an area that the cable TV industry hasn't gotten around to wiring up yet.

In addition to being a very affordable service, Dish Network has a lot of different measures and features that let you control how much you spend. The primary way that Dish Network lets you control costs is by giving you a variety of different programming packages to choose from. This gives you the freedom to choose the one that fits your budget the best.

One example of a programming package that can help you save money is Dish Family. Dish Family starts out with about forty channels, which still makes it a great value in comparison to simply getting your TV over the air just because there are so many fewer channels that are available over the air. At the same time, this package costs significantly less than other packages that are more mainstream in size and content. Of course, it's also worth pointing out that Dish Family has content that was chosen specifically for its wide appeal across all age groups that would be represented in your family.

Of course, Dish Family is far from the only option that will save you money. For instance, even the smallest mainstream programming packages can be customized with the addition of movie packages and sports channels that are ordinarily available only with larger packages. This can let your get the content that you really want to watch while paying less than you would for a bigger programming package. Similarly, if you're really into HDTV, Dish Network's Turbo HD service will save you money by allowing you to subscribe to HDTV channels, without adding standard def channels to the mix! Anything that allows you to get what you want, without paying for what you don't want, will save you money.

Another money saving feature that's built into Dish Network is the absence of local channels in programming packages. This lets you save money by watching your local channels over the air (if you want to watch them at all). Of course, you can also add your local channels into your subscription.

Basically, Dish Network gives you the ability to determine the size and price of your subscription.

Dish Network- Still Combining Value And Technical Innovation

Ever since Dish Network was founded, the company has used an innovative approach to its business- combining technological innovation with the lowest prices possible. This approach has made it not only a company that customers turn to to get the best of television entertainment, but also to get good deals that are not available anywhere else. Considering that technical innovation is only useful and enjoyable when it is affordable, this business model has obviously been very successful. Today, the company is still doing the same thing by offering the largest amount of HD programming, the most advanced receivers, and other advanced technologies, while continuing to maintain the lowest prices on the market.

Dish Network customers are well aware that they are getting a very good value on their television entertainment. After all, they can enjoy programming packages with multiple hundreds of channels, plenty of additional programming options such as foreign language programming, sports programming, or premium movies, a huge selection of HD channels, and much more- all without the huge price tag that comes with other companies' services. Recently, Dish Network even introduced TurboHD programming- a way of getting even more of the very popular HD format to its customers. In fact, as a way to make this service even more valuable, the company offers it either as an addition to regular programming packages or as a stand alone package- allowing customers who want to get completely away from standard definition programming to enjoy only HD programming. While many people are not yet ready to make this move, it is a good way for die hard HD fans to save some bucks by not paying for the standard definition programming they aren't going to watch anyway!

Not only are the programming options exceptional through Dish Network, but the supporting technology is as well. Dish Network was the first company to have many interactive options, which still continue to be popular today. Plus, you will find very advanced satellite receivers and DVRs with plenty of features and storage space that are available with any package. There are even devices like the PocketDish which provide mobile TV viewing options- just another way in which customers can get high quality for their money. Overall, Dish Network customers find that they get very early access to new TV technologies and these new technologies are priced at affordable rates, allowing the customers to experience the technologies if they so choose.

Dish Network, though much lower priced than other TV service providers, has done a great job of providing a superior product that customers can really enjoy. Compare this to cable companies, which charge a lot and provide very little of what you really want, and you can see why this company is doing very well. Especially these days, when everyone is looking for a value, Dish Network's business model of providing great service at affordable prices is working really well. In fact, when you combine the low prices of this company with its strong attention to getting customers access to the latest technologies and most options, this business model is pretty hard to beat at any time.

Dish Network Matches Receivers To Subscribers

If you've been paying any attention to the kinds of entertainment options that Dish Network provides for its subscribers then you probably know that this satellite TV company offers a lot of channels and a lot of different ways to customize its programming packages, but you may not know about the extra electronic features that you can get with a subscription. There are actually a lot of different kinds of high end features that you can enjoy through Dish Network that are supported by the satellite receivers that it supplies to its subscribers.

Satellite receivers are the devices that receive the satellite signal that's been captured by the satellite dish and processes that signal before sending it to your TV set. This device is necessary for a couple of different reasons. First, the signal that Dish Network transmits through its network of satellites is digital and most TV sets are only capable of understanding analog signals. Second, Dish Network encrypts all of its TV signals so that people who don't have subscriptions can't watch the programming. In other words, people who don't pay for Dish Network programming are prevented from stealing it. This makes the receiver responsible for decoding the programming.

Dish Network approaches receivers from the standpoint of matching equipment to the needs of the subscriber as closely as possible rather than a one size fits all approach. This saves everyone money in the sense that it doesn't make sense to give a top of the end HDTV and DVR capable receiver to someone who only subscribes to standard definition channels and who has no need of DVR capability! With this interest in efficiency in mind, Dish Network bases the matching of receivers with subscribers on the programming package that they're subscribing to and what they intend to do with it. For example, someone who wants a very simple system that enables them to watch standard def channels on a single TV set will get a model that does that, and only that.

If the subscriber wants to be able to watch standard def programming on more than one TV set, then Dish Network will provide a model with a second tuner, second set of connections, and second remote control that can be used with another TV set. If the subscriber adds DVR capability into the mix, then Dish Network would provide a model with the additional functionality needed to record TV onto a built in hard disk. Basically, as the subscriber wants more capability in the home entertainment system, a higher end satellite receiver is provided.

Of course, if the subscription includes HDTV channels, then the process can start over again. For example, if the subscriber has simple needs with their HDTV subscription, then they would get a high def equivalent of the simplest standard def receiver. One thing that it's interesting to note though is that the highest end receivers are the HDTV capable ones. For instance, while the standard def DVR receiver can record only one hundred hours of video, a higher end HD DVR receiver can record up to three hundred and fifty hours of standard def programming.

Given all of these factors, you can be certain of getting a receiver that matches your needs through Dish Network.

Dish Network Pushes HDTV Toward Domination of TV Content

There's a lot of competition among all of the various kinds of TV service providers to deliver the most channels of HDTV programming. This is simply a matter of being as competitive as possible. After all, if someone really wants HDTV why would they subscribe to the provider that offers fewer channels?

When shopping around for HDTV channels, it's worth knowing that Dish Network has taken extensive steps to add more total HDTV channels than anyone else! Dish Network rolled out its Turbo HD service over this past summer in order to surpass the competition when it comes to the number of HDTV channels that it offers.

Turbo HD is innovative in several different ways. Most notably it makes Dish Network the first TV service provider to offer programming packages that consist entirely of HDTV channels. This is significant because it moves HDTV programming into the future in ways that we haven't seen up until now. Basically, HDTV was originally intended to be the TV format of the future in that it would replace normal TV as the dominant TV format.

The emergence of HDTV as the dominant TV format would definitely be a step forward in terms of progress and not without historical precedent. For instance, back in the 1960's color TV was in a situation similar to that of HDTV. It required a special TV set to view, it wasn't terribly widely available in terms of the programs that used it, and by the end of the 1960's it was the dominant format on TV. A similar thing is bound to happen with HDTV in the next few years or a decade on the outside range of time. By offering programming packages that are made up entirely of HDTV channels in the form of the Turbo HD service, Dish Network is pushing this forward right now.

When you think about the number of channels that are now available in HDTV format, it's actually a really good time to push forward the idea of a one hundred percent HDTV programming package. In fact, Dish Network is on schedule to have as many as one hundred and fifty national HDTV channels available right now. And when you think about the fact that some programming packages have fewer than forty standard def channels, and the cable TV services of the past only offered about eighty channels in their most opulent options, the one hundred to one hundred and fifty HDTV channels offered by Dish Network's Turbo HD service easily constitutes plenty of options for a programming package!

Of course Dish Network hasn't given up the idea of mixing High Def channels with standard def channels. It's till possible to add Turbo HD options onto many of Dish Network's standard definition programming packages, but as more and more channels roll out HDTV versions of themselves and more and more programs are produced in HD (many are down converted to standard def in order to be shown on standard def channels), there are fewer reasons to keep standard def channels in the mix.

What all of this means is that Dish Network is in a good position to deliver the TV of the future.

Increase Your Mobility With The PocketDish

You probably already know about a lot of the advantages of subscribing to Dish Network for your satellite TV service, but you may be unfamiliar with the various ways of making Dish Network's services more mobile. The fact is that there are a lot of places where you can watch TV that aren't in your home!

The most prominent way in which Dish Network can be taken outside of the home is by installing the satellite receiving equipment and a TV in an RV or travel trailer. If you've spend any time around RV parks, you've probably seen the set up. People will pull their rigs into the RV park and in the course of setting up their campsites, they'll pull out a tripod that has a Dish Network satellite dish mounted at the top of it and a coaxial cable attached to the dish. They'll use a compass to figure out which direction is south and point the dish in that direction. Then they'll plug the other end of the coaxial cable into the entertainment center in the RV or camper. And then, after a little fine tuning through trial and error, they'll be able to enjoy great TV for the duration of their stay at that particular campground. With the addition of a generator and or a good battery bank and an inverter, travelers don't even need to stay in an RV park in order to enjoy Dish Network's services- they can be out in the back country as well!

Dish Network has another device that can allow you to take its programming even more places. This device is called the Pocket Dish. Pocket Dishes actually come in a couple of different models so that you can choose the right balance between affordability and storage capacity and screen size. Pocket Dishes are actually portable video devices, which means that they are miniature computers that are capable of displaying video on their built in LCD screens. In addition to video, they can also display pictures and be used to play digital audio over their built in speakers (or optional headphones).

Of course devices that can do the things that the Pocket Dish can do aren't really unusual these days. What makes Pocket Dishes special is their source of video. While other portable video devices rely on computers as sources of video- typically these videos are either generated from the user's camcorder or downloaded from the Internet- the Pocket Dish has the ability to download video from a Dish Network DVR to its own hard drive for later playback! Of course that video is recorded off of the Dish Network satellite feed according to your preferences before it can be downloaded to the Pocket Dish. As you can probably see, this is much cheaper and more convenient than downloading video off of the Internet! The majority of Internet video downloads must be paid for, and depending on your Internet connection, a single video might take quite a while to download.

As you can see, the battery powered Pocket Dish provides some good options for taking your Dish Network programming with you when you leave your home.

Dish Network Provides Lots of Receiver Options

If you're interested in subscribing to a Dish Network programming package, then you've probably gotten the impression that you'll have a wide range of choices of different kinds of satellite receivers. Like all choices, this one can be confusing and it's probably more confusing than many of the choices that you have to make because of the fact that there are so many technical details to manage. However, once you know a little bit about the receivers and the process of getting one, it's not nearly as intimidating.

The first thing that you should know that might provide some relief from the stress of making the decision about which receiver to get is that this choice isn't actually yours to make. This shouldn't worry you because your needs and desires will be taken into account when a satellite receiver is chosen for you, but the point is that which satellite receiver you end up with is mostly a result of what you tell Dish Network you need.

For example, if you are just getting a basic programming package and your needs are very basic, then you'll probably end up with a basic satellite receiver. There are a couple of different models that could serve this purpose and which one you'll end up with will be dependent on exactly what kind of programming package you get. If you've chosen a basic programming package that has no HDTV channels included or added on and you aren't interested in DVR service, then you'll get a model that only handles standard definition TV signals. Of course, this basic model will still support all of the other features that you can expect to have with a Dish Network subscription.

These basic features include the Dish Interactive Electronic Program Guide which will tell you all about what's available to watch. You'll also be able to get access to all of the interactive channels that you might want such as those that provide custom weather and news reports as well as interactive arcade style games. Naturally, you'll also get a fully functional, multidevice remote control as well. If you subscribe to HDTV channels and still don't want DVR capability, you'll get a receiver that's a lot like the one described above but with the additional capability of handing HDTV signals.

If you want the versatility that comes with having a DVR which enables you to record video and then play it back at a later time, then things get a little more complicated and you might have more say in which model you get. If you don't have any HDTV channels, then it's pretty clear cut which model you'll get- a standard def only model that can record about one hundred hours of video and services up to two separate TV sets. If you have HDTV channels in your subscription, then you'll have the option of getting any of a number of different DVR receivers with varying amounts of storage capacity. The top of the line one can even record up to one hundred hours of HDTV content and over three hundred and fifty hours of standard def content!

As you can see, you'll have an impressive array of satellite receiver options from Dish Network and you shouldn't be intimidated by the process of getting one.

Dish Network Has Many Options For Customization

One of the major benefits that you can get from Dish Network is the ability to add extra channels and completely new and unique types of programming to your existing programming package. This allows for a great ability to customize your TV content so that you can take full advantage of your subscription and get the exact kinds of entertainment and educational programming that you want.

Some of the most common types of programming to add onto a Dish Network subscription are movies and sports channels. Premium movie channels are especially popular and can be added in the form of entire packages like those offered by Cinemax, HBO, Starz, and Showtime. It's possible to add any one of these four great premium movie packages together or individually. This allows you to get the type of entertainment that you want without having to pay for what you don't want. For example, you may decide that HBO's movie package constitutes a better value than that of Cinemax, so you can just subscribe to the HBO package.

Sports programming is another option for adding onto the programming package that you have through Dish Network. Sports programming can be added in the form of an array of regional sports channels or individual seasonal sports subscriptions. The regional sports networks would be something that you'd get year round, while the seasonal sports subscriptions will provide you with comprehensive sports coverage for the duration of the regular season of the kind of sport of your choice. For example, if you subscribe to MLB Extra Innings, you'll be able to watch every game that takes place in the American and National baseball leagues over the course of the normal seasons of those leagues. That's a lot of baseball to watch! Similarly, MLS Direct Kick provides you with lots of soccer games during the normal soccer season. There are also seasonal sports subscriptions available for hockey, basketball, and several other kinds of sports as well!

Foreign language programming also provides a large number of different options. In fact, you can get programming packages or individual channels added to your existing programming package that provide entertainment and information in numerous other languages. These options include Farsi, Ukrainian, French, Italian, Korean, several different dialects of Chinese, Arabic, Urdu, Hebrew, Russian, and many other languages on top of that! The fact that this foreign language programming is typically available in entire programming packages or just single channels means that it can be ideal for you if you've recently immigrated from another country or if you are a student of another language and or culture!

Another kind of programming that you can add onto your Dish Network programming package is HDTV. With Dish Network's Turbo HD service, you'll be able to add an unprecedented number of HDTV channels onto your package. This will make for a better viewing experience in the sense that everything that you watch in HDTV and on an HDTV screen will have the same high quality that you'd otherwise only find in a movie theater. All of these optional extras make Dish Network worth looking at if you want a customizable TV solution.
