Dish Network Offers Programming Packages

There's a lot of debate over whether satellite television providers or cable television providers offer superior service, value, and program selection. But when you compare cable television with a satellite television provider like Dish Network, there really is no comparison. Dish Network is able to offer more programming in more different areas than cable television, and all of it with the high quality of a completely digital signal.

For example, Dish Network offers programming packages starting at about $20 while cable packages start at around $70. Dish Network can also deliver well over 200 channels, while cable providers top out at around 100. Dish Network can deliver special seasonal sports subscriptions like MLB Extra Innings, ESPN Gameday, NHL on the Ice, and NBA League Pass, while cable just provides your local sports programming. Dish Network also lets you hook up extra televisions for no additional charge while cable bills you at upwards of an extra $5 per television. Dish Network offers free equipment upgrades to help you get a digital video recorder or HDTV. Cable doesn't bother.

So how is Dish Network able to deliver so much more while charging so much less money? The answer is simple: Dish Network doesn't rely on cables to deliver it's programming. Dish Network's digital television signals are sent from a broadcasting station on the Earth's surface up to satellites orbiting 25,000 miles above the equator. The satellites bounce the signals back to the Earth where they can be picked up by anyone who has a satellite dish and receiver capable of decoding them. The electromagnetic waves that carry the signals are essentially free and don't have any inherent limit on the amount of data they can carry. Cables on the other hand cost money to buy and install, and will always be limited in the amount of data they can carry. In other words, while cable companies struggle to improve their infrastructure to meet the constantly growing demand for more data intensive TV technology, Dish Network can simply concentrate on finding better ways to deliver that technology to it's customers.

Another advantage that Dish Network has is that it operates on a greater scale. Most cable companies are local affairs which means that each company operates in a limited area with limited customers. Those limited customers have to bear the brunt of all of the costs associated with running the business. Dish Network on the other hand is a nationwide company that spreads it's administrative costs out over it's 12 million customers. This means that Dish Network costs less to run for each customer than cable and the savings can be passed on to the customers and used to improve programming and technology. Also because of the fact that Dish Network's satellites are broadcasting their signals everywhere, there's no limit on the number of people who can sign up for the service. All you need to get Dish Network service is a place where you can set up a dish and aim it at a patch of sky to the south. But if you want cable TV service and you're too far out of town, you're simply out of luck.

To give credit where credit is due, cable providers are trying to catch up, but considering the disadvantages of their technology and their business model they're simply too far behind. Satellite TV companies like Dish Network will continue to move forward in meeting the high demands of television enthusiasts everywhere.

For All Your TV Needs, Dish Network Is The Best

There are only two ways to get television service: the right way and the wrong way. The wrong way includes getting your service from a company that does not care about its customers and that likes to charge as much as possible. It also includes using a company that does not get around to bringing its customers new technologies until they are no longer new. The right way to get television service, however, is a much better way. It is based on using a company that values its customers, charges reasonable prices, and makes sure to get new products to its customers as quickly as possible. Basically, getting your television service the right way means using Dish Network as your provider.

When you really start to compare different TV companies, you will find that Dish Network is the only one that withstands the test of looking at the technologies the company can offer, the values it provides, and the service it brings to its customers. Dish Network has a huge following of satisfied customers and it is not very hard to tell why. No other company places such high value on making sure its customers get exactly what they need and want and no other company offers such reasonable prices on its services.

Keeping its customers happy is the reason why Dish Network recently unveiled a new service-
TurboHD. Because there has been such a clamoring for more programming in the format that provides more detail, better sound, and wide screened format, this company worked extremely hard to come up with the necessary technology to make more HD programming possible. Now, Dish Network TurboHD subscribers can enjoy up to 114 HD channels- the most impressive amount of HD on the market today. These channels are available in three different TurboHD packages- Bronze, Silver, and Gold- and there is also a separate Platinum package that is meant as an add on to any of the other packages and includes specialty HD channels. All of these TurboHD packages are priced in such a way that they are completely affordable as either stand alone packages or as extra programming along with an America's Top package. Either way, you are assured of getting plenty of entertainment to keep you happy and the best quality in the business.

Dish Network also keeps its customers happy by making sure its satellite receivers are always up to par with the latest advances. Because of its constant technological innovations, customers now have the option of choosing from over a dozen different receiver models. Each of these receivers is state of the art and provides the best of standard or high definition television, but some of these receivers are even better than others. The absolute best Dish Network receivers include DVR, which is the most popular TV device in the world today. DVR has completely changed viewer's relationships with their televisions and made it possible for even the busiest of people to enjoy their favorite shows. Dish Network's newest DVR models are even better than before with more room to store recorded shows and the ability to interface with external hard drives for even more storage.

Make sure to go about getting your TV service the right way. Choose Dish Network and let the best entertainment be delivered to your screen.

Dish Network offers satellite television receivers for everyone

Dish Network offers satellite television receivers for everyone. They have basic receivers for the single television household on a budget as well as HDTV models with integrated Digital Video Recorders for the television enthusiast who absolutely has to have the best. The only problem is sorting out all of the choices.

Dish Network's basic model, the Dish 301 is a great choice if you're on a budget or just getting into satellite television. It feeds crystal clear standard definition digital television signals to a single TV. It comes with the Dish Interactive Electronic Program Guide (EPG) which lets you see what's on all of your channels hours in advance. It provides program information telling you what each show is about, who stars in it, what it's rated, and will often give you an idea of the theme or plot of the program. The Electronic Program Guide also lets you make favorites list of the channels you watch most so you won't have to sort through all of the programming to find the show you want to watch. It's also fully integrated with Parental Control Locks which let parents limit the programs their children have access to. Parents can block out specific programs, entire channels, and programming with certain MPAA ratings so they can have peace of mind when their kids are watching TV without supervision. The Dish 301 also features manual and automatic even timers, one touch channel return, closed caption support, and on screen Caller ID capability. It comes with a remote control that can be programmed to control up to three other home entertainment components and gives you full access to the Electronic Program Guide.

The Dish 322 has all of the same features of the Dish 301, but with the ability to feed separate television signals to a second TV in another room. It does this with the incorporation of a second tuner which connects to a cable that runs to the second TV. The second tuner and it's TV are controlled by a special remote that can send a UHF signal through walls and furniture so it can be in the same room as the second TV instead of the same room as the receiver. This means that the remote that controls the primary television and the remote that controls the second television never interfere with each other and the viewers of each television can watch separate programs. It's kind of like having a receiver for each television combined into the same box for added convenience.

For even more flexibility and convenience in television watching, the Dish Player-DVR 625 has all of the dual television capability of the Dish 322, but with the addition of a Digital Video Recorder or DVR for short. A DVR can record one program while you watch another or two at once while you're out, just like a VCR. Where a DVR is much different from a VCR though is the fact that it can record up to 100 hours of programming on a hard drive so that you don't have to worry about video tapes. It's also fully integrated with the Electronic Program Guide (which can display program information up to 9 days in advance on this model!) making it easy and intuitive to program. Unlike an old fashioned VCR. The biggest difference between a DVR and a VCR though is that with a DVR you can pause and replay live television.

Dish Network's ViP622 is the most advanced model they offer. It has all of the features of the Dish Player-DVR 625, but with the additional ability to display High Definition Television (HDTV) and record up to 200 hours of programming.

More information is always available through Dish Network's customer support, but hopefully this guide has given you enough information to ask intelligent questions so you can sort out which receiver is right for you.

The Pocket Dish line from Dish Network

In the world of portable entertainment size is everything. But what makes a great portable entertainment device is a bit of a paradox: It has to be small on the outside, but have big capabilities on the inside. The PocketDISH line from DISH Network does a great job of balancing these two extremes. The largest PocketDISH, the AV700E, at 8.2 inches wide x 4.2 inches high x 0.8 inches wide is about the same size as a portable DVD player, but is completely self contained (in the sense that you don't need to swap out DVD's in order to watch a different movie) and can hold about 20 times the program content. Plus, each PocketDISH can do a lot more than any DVD Player. All PocketDISHes can download program content from any DISH Network DVR receiver with a USB 2.0 port at a rate of roughly one hour of programming for every five minutes of download time. They can store and play songs in MP3, WMA, or WAV formats, display digital photos, and play action and role playing video games that can also be downloaded from Dish Network. They can upload content to any PC or Mac computer, and play video content using either their own integrated screens or over most TV's.

The smallest PocketDISH, the AV402E is a wonder of miniaturized technology. At 4.2 inches wide x 2.4 inches high x 0.7 inches deep, it truly is pocket sized. It has an impressive 20 Gig HDD hard drive which can store up to 20 hours of video, 10,000 digital songs, and 200,000 pictures in JPEG format.

These big features in a compact size do come at a price however. The AV402E relies on headphones instead of built in speakers, it's screen is only 2.2 inches, it's lithium ion battery isn't removable, and unlike the larger models it doesn't have have a remote control or a docking station. It does however have a built in microphone.

The mid sized AV500E and the largest model, the AV700E, have many features in common that are more extensive than the AV402E's. They both have built in speakers and LCD screens with 16:9 aspect ratios. They come with remote controls, docking stations, and viewing stands. Both have removable lithium ion batteries which, with the use of a spare, allow for greater run time between recharges. Perhaps the most important feature that these models share is the ability to record video from sources other than DISH Network receivers. They can be connected to almost any cable box, satellite receiver, TV, DVR, DVD Player, or VCR to record video. Not only that, but when they record from other sources, the number of hours of video they can hold an increase by up to four times!

The AV500E's 30 GB HDD hard drive can hold up to 30 hours of DISH Network content (or up to 120 hours from other sources!), 15,000 songs, and 300,000 JPEG pictures. It's 4.8 inch wide x 3.0 inch high x 0.8 inch deep chassis has a 4 inch screen.

The AV700E can hold up to 40 hours of DISH Network programming (or up to a whopping 160 hours from elsewhere!), 20,000 songs, and 400,000 pictures in it's 40 Gig hard drive. It's 8.2 inches wide x 4.2 inches high x 0.8 inches wide and has a 7 inch screen.
With such great compact technology, we should all be on the lookout for what DISH Network will come up with next!

Dish Network Appreciates The Benefits of Technology

Dish Network Appreciates The Benefits of Technology

If you're the type of person who loves electronics, technology, and television, you'll also love Dish Network for the way it combines all of them to give you plenty of control over your digital world. Everybody knows that Dish Network provides the best television programming, but what really sets Dish Network apart from other television service providers is how it uses the technology at its disposal to give you the best television experience possible.

Dish Network's attention to technology begins with the basis for its television service. Satellite television technology took off in the early nineties with the introduction of the MPEG-2 data compression format. MPEG-2 allowed a massive number of channels to be transmitted via satellite to just about anywhere on the continent of North America without requiring the people receiving the signal to clutter their lawns with clunky ten foot wide satellite dishes. MPEG-2 also allowed the transmission of television signals in digital format which makes for a striking picture quality that's unrivaled by the old fashioned analog format. In fact, all of Dish Network's programming is transmitted in digital television format, so you don't have to worry about whether or not your favorite channel is among the select few.

Along with an unsurpassed picture clarity, digital television also allows Dish Network to deliver interactive features along with its programming. Dish Network's interactive features include access to local weather, sports coverage, and the ability to manage your account by doing things like paying bills and modifying your subscription. The most beneficial of Dish Network's interactive features and the one you'll probably use the most is the Electronic Program Guide. The Electronic Program Guide is an interactive menu of all the programming available on all of the channels in your subscription. There's one entry on the menu for each program available to you. The entry contains information about the program including its name, the year it was made, its MPAA rating if available, who stars in it, its run time, and often a short summary of the plot or description of the theme. The Electronic Program Guide can instantly take you to any channel and will show you what programs are available for you to watch up to nine days in advance depending on what type of satellite receiver you have.

Dish Network also provides extra types of electronics to its customers. For example, a Digital Video Recorder will go a long way toward giving you more control over your television experience. With a Digital Video Recorder, you can record movies and television shows even if you aren't at home or are otherwise occupied when they air. Then you can play them back to watch when it's convenient for you. A Digital Video Recorder may sound just like a VCR, but it's really a huge improvement. For one thing, it's much easier to program than a VCR. While with a VCR, you had to deal with poorly written instructions and an unintuitive interface, the Electronic Program Guide makes programming your Digital Video Recorder a snap. Another major difference is the fact that while a VCR records everything on a video cassette which can only hold a maximum of six hours of fuzzy video, a digital video recorder puts all of its recorded video content onto an internal hard disk which can hold a maximum of two hundred hours of video in its native digital format for the same clarity of picture and sound as the original broadcast.

All of these features and more make Dish Network the perfect television service provider for everyone who appreciates the benefits of technology.

Dish Network Offers Great Choices In High Definition Programming

Dish Network Offers Great Choices In High Definition Programming

Because high definition television is destined to become the standard television format in the near future, buying a high definition television set now is a great investment. Though its still too early in the development of HDTV to receive all your channels in the format, you now have quite a large number of choices. Dish Network has been paving the way for increased HDTV channels with a selection that is almost double that of any other provider and, because of this, you can choose from about 200 hours ofHD programming every day.

In order to receive HD programming, you need a special HD ready television and an HD receiver. Thisis necessary because standard equipment cannot handle the extra lines of resolution necessary to provide high definition and cannot support Dolby Digital sound (though high definition equipment can support standard definition programming). Once you have this equipment and have signed up for a HDprogramming package, you can start enjoying HDTV channels. All Dish Network HD programming packages contain a minimum of 25 HD channels and at least 80 standard definition channels. As you move up in levels you receive more standard channels and can add National Geographic HD and three premium HD movie channels. Because HD programming is surprisingly affordable, you will be able to opt for a higher level package than you might expect.

Once you have selected your equipment and programming package, you can sit back and enjoy the way HDTV envelopes you in the action. If you are a sports fan, you will want to invite all your friends over to watch the big games in full HDTV glory. ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD offer a wide diversity of games and insider info. Of course, you won't be able to catch everything you want on ESPN, so Dish Network also offers WorldSport, NFL Network, and Rush HD. Even though you'll want to watch as much as possible in HD, you will be able to watch most of the sports you can't get in HDTV on your standard channels.

With its wide screen format and high quality resolution, HDTV is the perfect format for viewing movies at home. Even the smallest Dish Network HD package offers quite a few choices in movie channels. Majestic HD, Universal HD, HDNet Movies, Film Fest, and World Cinema let you access a wide variety of movies to fit most moods. And Dish on Demand offers a reasonable selection of pay per view movies to watch at your convenience. Of course, if you subscribe to the Platinum package, you can also watch Starz HD, Showtime HD, and HBO HD.

Dish Network's HD programming is distinguished from other providers because of the general entertainment and news and variety programming offered. About half of the channels are dedicated to a wide assortment of programming, like TNT, CBS, Animania, Ultra HD, and Discovery HD. These channels offer a pleasing combination of entertainment and information for people of all ages. If you want to keep up-to-date on all your local happenings, you might also be able to receive local channels in HD.

Because Dish Network offers such a large assortment of HD programming, it is impossible to discuss all the channels in a short description. If you are interested in subscribing to one of the packages, Dish Network has full channel listings and descriptions of each HD channel to make it easy to decide which package you want.

Dish Network Offers Better Values Than Cable

Dish Network Offers Better Values Than Cable

Cable rates are rising at an average rate of over eight percent every year. The reason for this is simple: the public wants more channels and better television technology, but the cables can only carry a limited amount of data. In order to meet this demand, the cable companies are digging up and replacing thousands of miles of cable. This process takes a lot of money, both to purchase new cables with a higher data transmission capacity and to pay for their installation. The massive cost of this project is then passed on to consumers.

When you look at the fact that the satellite television industry (and Dish Network in particular) can meet all of the public's demands for more programming and better television technology at a lower cost than cable, it seems pretty absurd that the cable television industry still exists at all. For example, Dish Network offers hundreds of channels, all of them in a 100 percent digital signal that eliminates all but the worst interference and delivers a crystal clear picture and crisp sound, while most cable providers still use an old fashioned analogue signal that often carries sloppy interference.

When you start to look at technologies that people are demanding more and more of, the difference gets even bigger. High Definition television, or HDTV, is widely regarded as the television format of the future. It has up to ten times the resolution of standard definition programming that we're used to. It also has a wider viewing format like the wide screen of a movie theater, and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. All of this translates into much more data that needs to be sent from a transmitting station to a television. Dish Network has no trouble with this because it sends it's programming from the transmitting station to a satellite to satellite dishes, all using electromagnetic waves which don't have anywhere near the data transmission limitations of cables. Because of this superior method of data transmission, Dish Network can offer 29 channels of completely high definition programming, while very few cable companies offer any HDTV channels, and the ones that do offer them only offer one or two.

The fact that Dish Network offers hundreds of channels while cable providers only offer 120 at the most, really increases the number of options in programming. For example, Dish Network offers foreign language programming packages including Russian, Spanish, Korean, Ukranian, Hebrew, French, and Chinese, while with most cable companies you're lucky if you can get a channel in Spanish. Dish Network can also deliver seasonal sports subscriptions like NHL on the Ice, ESPN Gameday, NBA League Pass, and MLB Extra innings, while cable providers just deliver local sports programming through local channels.

Another great advantage of Dish Network is that you can take it with you when you move. As long as your new home has a place where you can mount the satellite dish so that it faces south, you can have great programming. In fact, many people in RV's and boats use Dish Network so that they can enjoy their favorite television wherever they go. With cable though, since most cable companies are regional or even differ from town to town, you'll have to subscribe all over again. In fact, unless you're in a town or very close to town, you probably won't be able to get cable television at all. Dish Network is definitely superior to cable in terms of mobility.

If you're still paying too much (and soon to be paying a lot more) for too few options from your cable provider, you owe it to yourself to look into switching to Dish Network.

Cable Unable to Keep Up With Dish Network Benefits

Cable Unable to Keep Up With Dish Network Benefits

With cable rates rising you might be wondering what alternatives you might have to your current television provider. You may have been subscribing to the same cable company for years, maybe even decades, and making a change from something that you're familiar with to something unknown can be uncomfortable, even if you know it's for the best. Fortunately there are plenty of reasons to go ahead and make the switch from cable.

Probably the best reason to switch is that satellite TV providers like Dish Network offer a greater variety of programming packages for a better price. For example, the typical cable subscription starts at about seventy dollars, while Dish Network's most basic package is about twenty dollars. That's a tremendous savings in just the first month. Dish Network also offers a lot more channels, so there's more flexibility in the packages you can get. Dish Network has packages with forty, sixty, 120, and 180 channels. Additional programming can even be added on top of the 180 channel package. By contrast, the most channels offered by cable companies is around a 120, and most offer ninety.

There's a big difference in the types of programming offered between cable companies and Dish Network. With Dish Network you can get special subscriptions to see the entire seasons of your favorite sports including baseball, basketball, hockey, and college sports. With cable you'll get coverage of local sports through your local channels. If you subscribe to cable television, you're lucky to get one or two Spanish language channels, while with Dish Network you can get packages with dozens of Spanish language channels. If your preference is some other language, chances are that Dish Network can provide you with programming to meet your needs. Just some of the foreign language programming offered by Dish Network includes Farsi, Russian, Korean, Italian, Japanese, Hebrew, Ukrainian, and Chinese.

Dish Network also offers more HDTV programming than any other television provider. It can deliver up to twenty nine high definition television channels that include movies, sports, news, and normal programming. Most cable companies don't bother with HDTV programming and those that do only offer a few channels.

The difference between cable and Dish Network comes down to a fundamental difference in the technology. Cable companies are forced to cram all of their programming through a bundle of wires to deliver it to your home. Dish Network sends it's programming through the air and space using electromagnetic signals which don't have the limitations of cables. For this reason, Dish Network has much more freedom to increase the quantity and quality of programming. We can look at HDTV for an example. HDTV has up to ten times the resolution of standard definition television and much better sound quality. That means that in order to deliver it to your television, the provider has to transmit a lot more data for HDTV than they would for normal television. The data-carrying capabilities of most cable networks are already stretched to their limits. They simply don't have room in the cable for the extra requirements of delivering high definition programming.

Cable companies are trying to expand their systems so that they can deliver more channels and programming in higher quality formats like digital television and HDTV, and that's where the extra costs are coming from. When you pay more for cable, you're paying more for the cable company to struggle to catch up with Dish Network. On the other hand, if you switch to Dish Network right now, you'll pay a lot less to get everything right now that cable is trying to deliver in the future.

HDTV Programming Becomes Accessible With New Dish Network Packages

HDTV Programming Becomes Accessible With New Dish Network Packages

As HDTV technology has become affordable and easily accessible, the days of only the rich and very dedicated television watchers being able to experience the benefits of high definition have come to a close. Now, with reasonably priced HDTV televisions, receivers, and programming, every family can access Dish Network's HDTV selection. When you make the decision to upgrade from your standard television, you will begin to receive the clearest, truest pictures with very like-like colors, plus sound that seems to come from everywhere in the room. When these qualities are combined with the wide-screen viewing format, you get the best television experience currently available.

If you want to get the benefits of HDTV programming, you first need to get the necessary equipment. This includes an HD-ready television set and a HD receiver. Dish Network offers a choice of HD receivers, so you can decide if you want extra features like a DVR or dual tuners. Once, you have all your equipment set up, you will be able to access any Dish Network programing, whether HD or standard definition. All Dish Network HD packages offer a combination of standard and high definition channels to take advantage of the wealth of programming in both formats.

For a basic HD programming package, Dish Network offers the Bronze package, which contains 80 standard channels and 25 HD channels. If that HD selection sounds about right, but you don't want to give up any standard channels, the Silver might be the right level with its 200 standard channels. For an additional 40 standard channels and the addition of the National Geographic HD channel, the Gold package offers q lot of entertainment for the cost. And, with the highest level of programming, Platinum offers everything that Gold offers, plus Starz HD, Showtime HD, and HBO HD. With over 200 hours of HD programming airing every day, Dish Network's HD selection is the largest you will find from any provider.

Because HD viewing feels a lot like a theater experience, most families love being able to watch a large assortment of HD movie channels. Of course, with the Platinum package, you'll have continuous access to plenty of newer releases with the three premium movie channels. But, with every package, you will also have plenty of other options that offer movies of all ages and themes. Channels like Universal, World Cinema, HDNet Movies, and Film Fest offer a great selection for all tastes. And specialty movie channels like Guy TV and Monsters HD let you have all-day film fests in your favorite genres.

If your idea of the perfect day is to have your friends over for all-day sports fests, Dish Network HDTV will provide you with plenty of options. Currently, you can access ESPN and ESPN2 in HD, plus World Sport, NFL Network, and Rush HD. In addition, channels like HDNet and CBS broadcast most of the more important games. Of course, with over 200 standard channels included in many HD packages, you can still watch games, even if they are not in HD.

And, when you have had your fill of sports and movies, and want something else to entertain you, Dish Network still has plenty of HDTV options. Educational programming like Discovery, National Geographic, Equator HD, and Gallery HD bring news and information from the larger world into your living room. And, for fun and relaxing entertainment, channels like Animania, Family Room, Rave, and GamePlay cannot be beat.

Because Dish Network has the largest HD selection currently available, you can spend more of your viewing time watching HDTV programming. And, as the technology grows, you can be sure that Dish Network will continue to expand its HD programming base to offer an even larger selection.

Dish Network's Flexibility Makes It A Better Choice Than Cable

Cable television and satellite television are very different types of television service. Both offer some of the same programming and some of the same types of equipment, but they use completely different types of technology to deliver programming. Because the technology is so different, the service that is offered is also extremely different. Some of the most noticeable differences are in the amount of flexibility and choices that the customer has. With cable television, everything is more rigid. There is not as much choice to be had, which makes sense because cable TV is tied to land lines. Satellite television like Dish Network Promotions, however, is inherently a lot more flexible and offers many more choices. This is a result of the flexible nature of satellite based television, which has many fewer limitations that other types of services.

For anyone in a rural area, satellite television is the only choice for any type of television. Even over the air TV is spotty, with most areas getting none at all. The fact that satellite television can reach these areas where it is impossible to get other types of services is a testament to the flexibility inherent to the satellite system. Cable TV can only reach areas where cables have been laid underground, which really limits the number of people who can get the service.

Of course, the flexibility of Dish Network extends to other aspects of service than just geography. Because satellite television can be viewed anywhere where a clear view of the southern sky exists, it is truly a portable means of entertainment and information. If you want to travel on an RV for a while, you can even still get your Dish Network programming. Same is true for boats or other mobile living situations. Satellite television gives the customer the most possible choices for any situation.

Along with the flexibility in getting programming, Dish Network Offers customers a greater number of programming choices. Satellite television does not have the same types of limitations that plague cable TV, such as limited bandwidth and trouble upgrading infrastructure, so it is able to offer more programming and more advanced programming. Take HDTV as an example. Most TV companies only offer a small handful of HDTV channels and these few channels tend to be limited to locals and a couple of sports or movie channels. However, Dish Network is offering over 30 channels plus locals. This is only possible because the advanced nature of satellite television allows for more advanced programming to be delivered to customers. Satellite television is capable of everything that cable TV is, including on demand programming, but it also offers a lot of extra choices that you cannot get anywhere else.

The flexibility of satellite TV makes it an extremely popular choice both among people who live in rural areas and those who want more choices than cable TV can provide. Customers like being able to bring service with them whether they are moving to a new house or traveling throughout the country, and the fact that there are more programming choices also makes the service a lot more conducive to individuation. Though cable TV might work for someone who is satisfied with having a one size fits all service, those who want service that can meet their needs should look to satellite TV.

Cable Rates Rising, Dish Network Provides Alternative

When you're considering what kind of TV service provider to sign up for a subscription with, it's worth considering the fact that cable TV has been on a slow decline ever since Dish Network low cost satellite TV introduced its service back in the early nineteen nineties. At first satellite TV offered a realistic way for people living in rural areas to enjoy the large selection of channels that people in suburbs and cities enjoyed courtesy of cable TV. Over the years though, as the number of channels available through Dish Network has increased and the subscription rates charged by the cable TV companies have gone up, Dish network has come to be seen as a realistic alternative to cable TV for many people living in cities and suburbs.

When you look at the current differences between the two types of service, it becomes pretty obvious why there's so much more interest in Dish Network than in cable TV. For example, Dish Network offers a lot more channels. The best cable TV companies in existence offer about two hundred channels, but he vast majority of cable TV companies top out at one hundred channels or less. Dish Network is just getting started at one hundred channels and has several programming packages that extend well above two hundred channels. With additional channels and add on packages to complement the largest programming packages, it's very easy to build a customized Dish Network programming package with well over three hundred channels!

These optional channels are also a huge plus to going with Dish Network. After all, the fact that cable TV is so much more limited in the number of channels that it can deliver gives it much less room to maneuver when it comes to offering specialty programming. Dish Network doesn't have those kinds of limitations though and takes advantage of the extra room by offering more obscure programming that won't appeal to as wide of an audience, but has a great deal of value to its fans nonetheless.

A great example of this is Dish Network's foreign language programming. Dish Network features programming in over nineteen different languages- other than English. These languages include Korean, Arabic, Urdu, French Italian, Portuguese, and many others. Best of all, for most languages, you can choose to get an entire programming package of channels in that language or just get one or two channels of a different language on an a la carte basis.

Cost is a very big motivator when it comes to people making the switch to Dish Network as well. That's because an entry level Dish Network programming packages not only supplies more channels than the typical entry level programming package from the cable TV industry, but also costs less then half as much. That translates into a savings of over forty dollars a month or four hundred and eighty dollars a year. Combine that with the fact that cable TV rates have increased at a national average of eight percent a year for several years now- and show no sign of stopping their ascent anytime soon- this disparity is likely to get wider over time.

Inclusion of a DVR Enhances The HDTV Home Theater System

While high definition TV, which is also known as HDTV for short, has a lot of benefits and is a great way turn your home entertainment center into a home theater system, there's also a lot that you have to take into account when you're figuring out how exactly to do this. For example, you'll have to make the decision about what kind of TV set would best suit your needs. This alone can be difficult because there are so many different types of displays and each one is well suited for a different thing. For example, Plasma screen displays are a good choice for lower light levels and for when you want extremely fast response times and high contrast ratios. Plasma screens are also flat panel displays, so they're really good for rooms that don't have enough space for the extra bulk of projection TV sets. Plasma screens aren't very good for high light levels. The also tend to dim over time and consume more electricity than other types of technology.

LCD HDTV sets are a better choice for higher light levels and lower power consumption. LCD technology comes in flat panel displays, but can also be incorporated into projection screen TV's, which provides you with more different options for this kind of technology. LCD HDTV sets don't provide the same level of quality as other technologies when it comes to displaying fast moving object- the slower reaction times of the crystals makes blurring more apparent- and an LCD screen doesn't display deep blacks as well as other types of technology. Both of these problems are minimized on more recent models to the point where most consumers will find that they're non-issues.

Regardless of which kind of display technology you decide to use in your home theater system, you're going to need a high definition TV receiver in order to decode and process the HDTV signal and display it on the HDTV set. That's because an HDTV tuner has been left out of many HDTV sets on the assumption that TV service providers will supply receivers with HDTV tuners built in anyway, so why bother including one in the set itself.

This is definitely the case with Dish Network Deals because, when you sign up for High Definition TV programming from Dish Network, you'll get an HDTV receiver as well. There are two different models of High Def receivers from Dish Network, and the more advanced one is of the most interest. The more advanced model is called the ViP622 DVR. This model can display HDTV, standard definition TV (SDTV), and the little known intermediate enhanced definition TV (EDTV). It can also feed programming to more than one TV set at a time (though programming fed to the secondary TV set will be converted down to SDTV resolutions). The ViP622 DVR also has a built in digital video recorder. This digital video recorder contains one of the larger hard disks of any digital video recorder currently on the market, and consequently can store up to thirty hours of HDTV video or an amazing two hundred hours of SDTV video! This digital video recording feature makes the ViP622 a valuable part of your home theater system.
